Lick
the Spoon Opens it’s Cirencester Chocolate Shop!
Chocolatier
Lick the Spoon opened their shop in Cirencester, Gloucestershire
this week. The shop is situated in historic Black Jack
Street and provides a showcase for the company’s award winning
handmade chocolates and chocolate cakes. Lick the Spoon was
founded three years ago by chef and mother of two Diana Short
whose family roots are in Gloucestershire.

Lick
the Spoon have employed two new shop managers and an assistant to
impart Diana’s passion for the finest origin chocolate and
original recipes coupled with the best of West Country
ingredients. “We have a good team”, explained Diana, “and
they will be working along side me so I can pass on to them the
chocolate journey that I have undertaken in the last three
years”. Diana described how the company’s tag line “Creating
Chocolate Memories…” came from her first experience of
entering a London chocolate shop with her father as a little girl.
“We wanted to create a truly magical experience that people
would remember for years to come” said Diana.
Lick
the Spoon also specialise in Chocolate Wedding and celebration
cakes and this will be an important aspect of the Cirencester shop
as the business progresses. Lick the Spoon are holding a Wedding
cake extravaganza week at the Cirencester shop immediately after
Christmas from December 30th. “This is the week that
couples getting married in 2010 traditionally get together over
the holiday period and start to plan their Wedding cake”
explained Diana. “We will be holding cake tastings, design
consultations and will also have some fabulous chocolate cakes on
display”.
Lick
the Spoon have become renowned for their chocolate sculptural work
and hope that their chocolate window displays will become a
talking point. Their current display is a solid chocolate
Christmas Dinner scene with a chocolate table, table cloth,
plates, Christmas Crackers, pine, cones baubles and chocolate
candlesticks. “We’ve had lots of people requesting to buy
individual parts of the scene” says Diana, “so we thought it
appropriate to use the sculpture to raise money for the charity
for bereaved children - Winston’s Wish, by holding a Silent
auction with the winner to be announced on Christmas Eve”.
Lick
the Spoon hope that the flagship Cirencester store will become the
template for future expansion. “We’re so excited to have
finally achieved our dream” said Diana, “we are so proud of
this shop!”.
The
Lick the Spoon Wedding Cake Extravaganza starts on Tuesday
December 30th 2009 at their Cirencester shop, 3 Black
