About us...

Lick the Spoon, the Wiltshire based  producer of fresh handmade chocolates, was founded by Chef and Chocolatier Diana Short, with the aim of producing high quality, artisan chocolates with passion and flair.

A professional chef for 18 years, Diana learnt her skills in France where she lived and worked for 6 years before returning to England. Priding herself on the quality and freshness of her creations, Diana has worked in Michelin star restaurants and catered for a number of high profile events. A recent career highlight saw Diana create an inspired vegetarian menu and run a team of chefs for the Wild Screen 2004 film awards.

Chocolate has always been a passion and previously only family and friends could benefit from Diana’s exquisite chocolate creations. A commission for a chocolate wedding cake in 2005 which later featured in “You and Your Wedding” magazine sowed the seeds for “Lick the Spoon”. In 2006 Diana gave up her career as a Chef  in order to found “Lick the Spoon”, allowing online buyers to taste our chocolate creations and local customers to experience crafted bespoke cakes and Wedding favours.

In August 2007 we were proud to be awarded both Gold and Silver awards in the prestigious Taste of the West Food and Drink awards whose patron is HRH The Prince of Wales.

November 2007 saw Lick the Spoon announced as Best of Bakery and Confectionery throughout the South West at the 2007 Taste of the West award ceremony for the "One for me, One for You" handmade chocolate selection.

In December 2007 Lick the Spoon were filmed for the ITV West "Eat West" Series promoting quality local food. To see the Eat West film clip please click here to visit the ITV West website.

In March 2008 Lick the Spoon were delighted to be announced as Best Independent Food Producer at the Wiltshire Life Awards 2008. Awards presenter Michael Dobbs said the judges considered Diana's chocolates to be World Class. Co-presenter Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones - "The Black Farmer" said, "if you want to meet someone passionate about food, you should meet this lady!"

In August 2008 Lick the spoon won two prestigious gold awards at the 2008 Taste of the West Awards and were named one of only eighteen national finalists in the Waitrose and Country Living Magazine "Made in Britain" awards.

2009 is an exciting year for Lick the Spoon. Easter saw Nigella Lawson and Alan Titchmarsh choose Lick the Spoon for their choice of Easter egg. In August 2009 Lick the Spoon won further prestigious Taste of the West gold awards.

On the 1st October 2009 we opened our new Corsham chocolate factory and have recruited two talented new chocolatiers! In December 2009 we opened our first store in Cirencester..Hurrah!
